Alongside a healthy lifestyle of plenty of fruit, veg and water, good sleep and a good skincare routine, the following exercises can really help to lift the jowls and smooth out the face.
Here's how to put the following 5 jowl exercises into action:
1) Chin Tilt Exercise
3) Cow Face Exercise
4) Yawn Exercise
5) Pout Facial Exercise
Here's my story on how I came to find massage and an abundant diet for natural beauty and improved health.
I'd been an 'unwell' kind of person most of my life. Do you know what I mean? Where you just don't feel (and look) that great the majority of the time - does this ring a bell?
Where you can wake up feeling groggy. Struggle to find energy throughout the day. Catch colds easily and frequently.
You know you should exercise but skip it due to low energy. You make bad food choices and reach for the junk food for that 'quick fix' buzz.
Perhaps you suffer with low mood or irritability. You could be sleeping better or feeling less stressed than you are.
Well, this was me. But not only was my health being affected by my food and lifestyle choices, but now I was naturally aging. And it was really starting to show in my appearance too.
Sagging skin, wrinkles, lines, puffiness, eye bags, a dull complexion, dark circles, drooping jowls, sunken eyes, paleness, a lack of 'glow' and that 'tired' look had all started to set in.
Yes, these can occur naturally as we age, HOWEVER, we certainly can accelerate these issues by poor diet and lifestyle choices. We can take a large amount of control over how we both look and feel by making improvements that mean treating our bodies with the TLC it deserves. I did.
Since improving my diet (read my food story here) and performing the FACIAL REJUVENATION MASSAGE to myself (and having them done monthly by another professional - I love it!) my face has tightened and lifted, my jawline has become more defined, my cheekbones are more prominent, my eyes have widened (due to the tightened skin), my skin appears more tanned, has become smoother, is visibly less puffy, is now glowing and my laughter lines have improved.
Hence why it is also known as the non-surgical facelift or the natural lift facial massage! Not to mention the other amazing benefits of the massage, such as the incredible lasting calming and relaxation effect.
With a combination of regular facial rejuvenation massages, lots of organic fruits and vegetables, plenty of water, good sleep and enough relaxation time, myself and many others are evidence that you can improve how you look and feel.
The natural life facial massage can even be performed just once a month - it still has a wonderful and lasting effect!
Fresh Face Fruits
So I continued with my standard diet of high fat and high protein with some cooked vegetables and, perhaps, one or two guilty pieces of fruit (so many experts claim sugar is sugar and therefore fruit and carbs - which contain a lot of natural sugar - should be kept to a minimum).
I continued with these standard diets until... well... Until the last 10 lbs of fat just WOULD NOT shift. Until my health just wasn't quite there. Until my skin was still dull and puffy and loose. My face still tired looking and jowly. My energy levels not where they should be. And - one of THE WORST side effects of avoiding carbs - where the junk food cravings and binges were completely out of control.
Banana smoothies for breakfast - here I came!
After putting on a lot of weight years back, then more recently struggling to lose it on these various high protein, high fat and low carb diets, I came across this abundant way of eating, gave it a reluctant go and - honestly - it's incredible, life changing and so freeing!
I eat as much fruit, vegetables and grains as I want, and keep everything else to a minimum.
It took a while (about a month - it differs between different people) for my body to settle and to see improvements. After starting, I put on a little weight initially. The reason for this? Because many of the previous diets involved restriction and calorie counting, so my body had been previously deprived but now was being NOURISHED WITH ALL THIS AMAZING FOOD and it wanted to hold on to EVERY CALORIE, in case it was deprived again.
But soon, the fat started to drop off and the skin was showing visible signs of improvement, from tightness to better complexion to reduced spots. And once I started the Facial Rejuvenation massage alongside it, I added reduced laughter lines, wider eyes, improved jowls and jaw definition and incredible relaxation time to the list!
I have now lost a huge amount of fat - a large part due to the diet, but also how energetic eating this way has made me feel and, therefore, has allowed me to exercise regularly a few times a week.
I'd dealt with adult acne and pimples a long while, and they have improved SO much that they are on the way to being a thing of the past.
I've had IBS and regular migraines all my life. I can't remember the last time I had a migraine and my stomach issues and digestion, well.. It's incredible. They've improved. A lot.
It's hard in the form of a few sentences to explain just how much these improvements have had a positive impact on my life. Anyone who's suffered with stomach issues will know how depilitating they can be. And how much of a negative emotional they can have on you.
I no longer crave junk food, which was something I was struggling with terribly. In retrospect, I was clearly glucose deprived due cutting out all the fruit and carbs on the advice of the 'experts'.
I can recall eating two packets of crisps whilst away in London (out of hunger and necessity, not cravings!), but other than that - I have not consumed junk food. I have not needed or wanted to. I am not crazed about this - I am not saying that I stop myself ever consuming a fatty or processed piece of food, if I want it. It's just, I don't want it, now.
I have so much energy that I can exercise every day, if I so wish. You certainly don't need to - this way of eating doesn't require anyone to bust a gut at the gym. However, movement and exercise is so good for your overall health and wellbeing. We all know that!
I rarely catch a cold now. And when I have done (once since starting, I recall) it's not been the debilitating ones I used to suffer with, more a sniffle.
I am NO LONGER RESTRICTING MYSELF, BUT ENJOYING EVERY MOUTHFUL, eating 2500+ calories! This is the way to do it, so you're sufficiently satisfied and nourished. Some days I eat up 4000 calories. When you eat this way, you don't have to restrict and count.
The key is to not overdo the fatty, salty and processed foods. SO easy to do when you're full and satisfied on natural sugar.
Here's a typical day for me:
Banana smoothie (a big one, none of this 1 or 2 banana nonsense!)
Another banana smoothie (I love them)
Apples, pears, nectarines
Handful of dates
Plate of jacket potatoes with plum sauce and raw spinach/lettuce
Rice noodles with roasted vegetables, chopped tomatoes and homemade sauce
That's one day. Yum yum.
The Fruits and Their Benefits
Strawberries contain ellagic acid which protects the body against skin damaging free radicals. They also contain vitamin C which helps to increase internal antioxidant production, helping to remove toxins from the body.
The strong antioxidants and dietary fibre contained in kiwi fruit aids the body in eliminating toxins and waste, which can have a significant result in promoting healthy, glowing skin.
Blueberries contain a high concentration of anthocyanins - a powerful antioxidant containing anti-inflammatory properties which promote circulatory health which, in turn, boosts the flow of oxygen and nutrients to the skin - help giving a fresher and glowing look.
Bananas contain a high amount of potassium which helps reduce fluid retention, a large cause of puffiness and eye bags.
Lemons contain a high content of vitamin C, needed for the synthesis of collagen, which in turn provides firmness and elasticity to the skin.
Apples are a great source of copper, a mineral necessary for making melanin - the pigment that colours your skin and protects you from UV rays (and from the accelerated aging effects of those rays).
As well known, Oranges are high in vitamin C which, along with many benefits, aids the absorption of vitamin E. Vitamin E is a fat-soluble vitamin that serves as an antioxidant, protecting the body from damage due to free radicals. Free radicals can cause wrinkles, lines and age spots.
Mangoes are rich in vitamin A which is necessary for the growth of all bodily tissues and promotes repair and maintenance of the skin. Deficiencies can result in a dry, flaky complexion.
Grapes are a rich source of both manganese and vitamin C and together these compounds can prevent damage due to UV radiation. Grapes are packed full of antioxidants, which assist in protecting and promoting the building blocks of collagen.
Watermelon contains a high content of minerals, vitamins and antioxidants, keeping the skin nourished, which can prevent wrinkles and skin discolouration from occurring.
Tomatoes contain lycopene which can neutralise the harmful effects of UV light by scavenging skin damaging free radicals. Lycopene's ability to enhance connectivity and communication between cells can noticeably improve your skin's texture by aiding cellular functions that are essential to keeping your skin looking young.
Pink Grapefruit - another fruit that also contains lycopene. Studies have shown that lycopene can also benefit your skin by inhibiting the activity of enzymes involved in the destruction and breakdown of collagen. Collagen is needed for great looking and firm skin, as well as the health of your bones, muscles and tendons.
